Karzzz – A real curse indeed

Perhaps, Subash Ghai vividly influenced by famous Hollywood flick ‘The Reincarnation of Peter Proud’ crafted the script of Karz. Well, Rishi Kapoor was more apt for the role of a rock star for his good dance. And nearly after three decades, Director Satish Kaushik remakes it. Does his endeavor with Himesh Reshammiya go impressive? Definitely not, I had been there watching this flick today morning for the first day first show and could hear the laughter all over the cinema hall. Reason is so simple, how can a person resist his laugh after getting to watch Himesh Reshammiya’s ridiculous performance. Precisely, Karzzz didn’t look like a remake, but a spoof of original version.

Monty ( Himesh Reshamiya), a famous rock star in South Africa happens to be the idol of music buffs. Amongst one of the night parties, he meets Teena (Swetha) and it’s love at first sight. But then, Teena moves away leaving a great impact on Monty and here starts the mysterious journey. Monty keeps visualizing a strange woman, a temple, a flight crashing and a musical tune indeed. As the situation advances, he finds out that it’s none other than a person called Ravi Varma (Dino Morea), a top-charting tycoon. But again, another flashback reveals that Monty is none other than the reincarnation of Ravi Varma and his real mother and sister are still alive. Ravi Varma gets killed by his wife Kamini (Urmila)….

Meanwhile Monty meets Teena and both fall in love. Sooner, Monty wants to marry her, but Teena pleads him seek permission from his stepmom who is none other than Kamini….
Here gets revealed the dark hidden mystery of love and vengeance and does Monty find his real mother, sister and get back their lost properties forms crux of the story…

The story sounds much similar to many flicks based on reincarnation including Kamal Haasan’s ‘Enakkul Oruvan’, Shah Rukh’s ‘Om Shanthi Om’ and more….

Himesh Reshamiya scintillates with his musical score, but lots of songs do spoil the pace of screenplay. Himesh doesn’t look apt for acting in lead role and he has to change his style in each and every aspects. Debutant Swetha with her good looks doesn’t perform to the expected level. Urmila steals the show with her baddie kind of role and most stunning part is that she looks glamorous despites her age factor. (But not the same Urmila we saw her in Rangeela).
Dany Denzengopa adds more to the humor part uttering dialogues of all hit and flop movies of Bollywood. One among them is Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Aap Ka Saroor’. Never expected that Gulshan Grover would be depicted in such a stupid way as a mute villain and it’s completely absurd.

Cinematography by Monoj Soni is excellent and don’t miss his captivating shots of Kenya and Cape Town.

On the whole, Karzzzz is a flick that shouldn’t be watched at any cost…
